Financial AnalystDepartment: FinanceProgram: Financial ServicesStatus: Regular Full Time8 Hour Shifts, Days Schedule (Subject to Change)Location: Whitby, ON - Corporate OfficeWage Schedule: $38.230 - $50.980 per hourNon-Union: 2500003041DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to the Controller; the Financial Analyst is responsible for the accounting and analysis of transactions and projects that require an understanding of health care operations, general accounting and reporting, financial modeling and the ability to operate independently and as part of a team." Responsible for Ontario Health (OH) funding - Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) componento Funding agreements, revenue recognition, deferral, analysis and reconciliation" Support the Durham Regional Cancer Centre (DRCC);o Responsible for DRCC/CCO related funds - various funding sourceso Maintain deferral file of all fundso Work with Directors and Managers for revenue recognition processeso Monthly accruals/reversals concerning partner hospitalso Monthly statistical journal entrieso Prepare year end reconciliations for auditorso Support the Senior Business Advisor" Track the daily deposits and prepare monthly files for the DRCC and Lakeridge Health (LH) Clinical Trials Director and Manager" Perform the monthly interfaces of the payroll system, Automatic Data Processing (ADP) and the clinical information system, EPIC to the general ledger system, Systems Analysis Program Development (SAP)" Monthly journal entries and analysis" Maintain account and hospital structure in various systems" Work closely with Information Technology (IT) to maintain system access requirements for leadership" Complete various reporting obligations for OH, OH-CCO and others as required " Perform the day-to-day general ledger accounting, financial reporting and analysis " Prepare monthly journal entries to ensure that adjustments/corrections are made necessary." Verify, allocate, post and reconcile financial transactions between different accounting systems and/or modules; " Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations and other related accounting documents/schedules; " Assist with annual external interim and year end audit by completing requested materials, preparing assigned schedules, and working directly with auditors; " Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and management; " Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures; " Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls; " Identify opportunities for process improvements to help streamline the current processes." Provide input into department's goal setting processes; " Participate in specific projects related to implementation of new systems and processes and performance improvement strategies as required by Finance Management or the Senior Management Team; " Other duties as required QUALIFICATIONS:" University degree or College diploma in finance/accounting; " Completion of or near completion of a Canadian recognized accounting designation (CPA via CA, CGA or CMA);" 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience in financial analysis, reporting, and month end close " Strong analytical skills and attention to detail as demonstrated with previous job responsibilities;" Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of PSAB;" Experience in a healthcare setting with working knowledge of MIS Guidelines and Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards is strongly preferred" Experience with SAP would be an asset;" Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel software and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook;" Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships;" Proven to be highly self-motivated, creative and with enthusiasm for change;" Team player and able to work independently;" Excellent verbal and written communication skills;" Able to handle complexity and multiple deadlines at one time;" Responsive to time-sensitive data requests and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines;" Problem-solving/issues resolution skills with process improvement mindset;" Strong customer service skills; " Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area; and" Proven good attendance record with the capability of maintaining this same standard.
