OPSEUJob Title: Addiction Counsellor IIStatus: Regular Part TimeDepartment: Remedial MeasuresProgram: Mental Health & AddictionsDays - 8 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)Location: Lakeridge Health Pinewood CentreWage Schedule: $36.810 - $43.450 per hourOPSEU: 2500001837DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Pinewood Centre provides a range of substance use, concurrent disorders and problem gambling treatment services to seniors, adults and youth and their families in Durham Region. This position will function within Community Treatment Services and will provide both the clinical and administrative responsibilities of the Back On Track program, in partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). The counsellor provides assessment, case management, both educational and treatment based groups, consultation and program management activities within evidence-based models of care. Non-clinical duties include data entry, clinical notes, invoicing, and administration of program revisions and requirements. Close collaboration with CAMH is an essential component of this position. This unique position will function as a position at Centre St.QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences;* Demonstrated experience with substance use and concurrent disorders populations, including intake/screening, assessment, treatment planning and other case management functions;* Demonstrated experience in provision of individually-based substance use counselling, and group-based services, including psycho-educational and therapeutic modalities; and experience with telephone counselling;* Experience working with unmotivated population groups;* Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;* Excellent documentation skills, ensuring client files are maintained and managed in a secure manner according to Lakeridge Health standards;* Excellent working knowledge of theories of addiction, evidence-based treatment models and best practices;* Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and the provincial addictions treatment system;* Demonstrated ability to recognize and diffuse escalating or potentially violent clients;* Demonstrated ability to work independently in a manner consistent with high professional standards;* Experience with program and service development and implementation;* Commitment to a client focused philosophy of care;* Willingness to be clinically supervised and pursue ongoing professional development;* Must have and maintain a valid Ontario driver's license;* Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check issued within the past twelve (12) months;* Must have satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this areaCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) .
