Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Mental Health

Wage Schedule: $40.24 - $57.68 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To use nursing process in providing patient care in a primary nursing environment. To participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team. As an individual practitioner, to maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. To maintain nursing records.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
* Current BCLS;
* Demonstrated commitment to maintaining Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO;
* Minimum of 2 years working experience in an Inpatient Mental Health and/or addictions setting, is required.
* Canadian Mental Health Nursing Psychiatric Nursing Certificate is preferred;
* Proven to have experience in an acute Mental Health setting;
* Demonstrated excellent knowledge of, and experience in group theories and dynamics;
* Proven experience with working with a multidisciplinary team;
* Proven completion of Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviour Program;
* Proven ability to recognize and diffuse escalating or violent patients;
* Ability to conduct Mental Health Assessment with excellent interviewing and communication skills;
* Demonstrated knowledge of Community Mental Health Resources;
* BScN Degree is required;
