The Indigenous Health Lead will help us further our pursuit of this mission with a focus on ensuring that Indigenous communities receive culturally-responsive, compassionate and safe care whenever they use our programs and services. Reporting to the Health System Executive, Clinical with responsibility for health equity and population health, the Lead will be a trusted advisor providing advanced knowledge, change management expertise and support for clinical areas as they strive for health equity and improved patient outcomes. The Lead strengthens the understanding and application of health equity principles, evidence, tools and best practices.LH is at the forefront of Indigenous health equity work and has a well-established Indigenous cancer program and ambitions to expand the approach and learnings to other clinical areas. As such, the Lead will work in partnership to implement and oversee LH's Indigenous Health strategy and will demonstrate leadership behaviors and capabilities, an ability to coach and persuade leaders and programs consistent with health equity considerations, and to self start and self manage. The Lead Will:" In collaboration with clinical program areas, community partners, the Indigenous Expert Committee and others, implement initiatives to improve health equity and outcomes for Indigenous communities using appropriate cultural frameworks." Provide expert advice, evidence and best practice on advancing the understanding of health equity and its impact on disparities and lived experiences." Provide guidance, direction and advice to staff and teams to assist them in the application of equity tools and methods." Participate in strategic and operational planning as well as priority setting exercises with the leadership team to ensure a robust equity lens is applied at all stages of program planning, implementation and evaluation." Collaborate with decision support, organizational development, strategy, quality management and other partners to translate evidence, develop plans for building capacity around equity and facilitate uptake and understanding of equity practices and policies." Coordinate local projects, initiatives and teams working on equity and action to address disparities." Establish solid community relationships with community agencies and Indigenous populationsAbout You:We would love to hear from you if you have the following:" Master's degree required in Public Health, Health Promotion, or equivalent lived experience and Traditional Knowledge" Over 5 years' experience in planning, development and evaluation of programs, services and initiatives using appropriate approaches to reduce inequities" Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships, networks, coalitions, and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners to support Indigenous equity work" Lived experience" Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including preparing reports and briefing notes" Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and mediation skills" Proven strong project management skills with ability to multi task and set priorities."
