CUPEJob Title: Registered Practical NurseStatus: Regular Full TimeDepartment: LHAP 4E MEDICINEProgram: Medicine12 Hour Shifts, Days, Nights, Weekends Schedule (Subject to Change)Location: Lakeridge Health Ajax-PickeringWage Schedule: $34.070 - $35.970 per hourPosting Reference: 2300003318JOB DESCRIPTION:Reporting to Manager of 4E (Inpatient Medicine), the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centred care environment. The Registered Practical Nurse will be responsible for personal patient care, vital signs, physical assessment, administration of medications, monitoring IV's, setting up medical equipment as appropriate and other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:* Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse from an accredited college or proof of upgraded equivalent skills* Diploma prepared Registered Practical Nurse or proof of upgraded equivalent skills* Competent to perform CPR at a basic Cardiac Life Support level.* Current CPR/BCLS certificate* Physical/Health Assessment course from a recognized institution or equivalent course* Current employment experience in medical/surgical units (minimum 1 yr)* Demonstrated skills in providing patient education and sharing knowledge of expected outcomes and care.* Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations.* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community.* Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement.* Evidence of education in Neurology, Nephrology, Palliative Care, an asset;* Must have a satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public;* Demonstrated understanding of and, commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and,* Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and the ability to maintain that same standard.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.Successful applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
