Clinical Professional Leader IITitle: Clinical Practice Leader II - 2 East and 2 WestProgram: Inter-Professional PracticeStatus: Temporary Part Time - 6 monthsSchedule: 8-12 hour evening/weekend shifts (subject to change)Wage Scale: $45.571 - $56.946Site: Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering Posting: UNEX 2200004567.JOB SUMMARY:Reporting to the Director, Inter-Professional Practice, the Clinical Practice Leader II (CPL II) for 2 East and 2 West will be responsible for supporting nurses on the 2E and 2W medicine units with a focus on nurses orientating to the department or new skills. This experienced clinician will model quality patient care and professionalism. They will assist new nurses to develop the knowledge and skills required for practice within the clinical environment. The CPL II will provide ongoing coaching and support to enhance the learning experience. The CPL II may have other duties assigned to them by the Director of Interprofessional Practice to assist with the clinical education of staff and functioning of the Interprofessional Practice DepartmentDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:* Provides expert clinical consultation for delivery of patient care; * Provides in the moment coaching, mentoring and demonstration for skills* Collaborates with the Clinical Practice Leader to ensure new hires are well supported throughout the orientation period and beyond* Assist staff with critical thinking, skill completion and in the moment clinical situations* Provides education for skills beyond the principle expectations of practice and delegated controlled acts;* Uses a variety of adult learning strategies and evaluation techniques that are well aligned to the intended learning outcomes; * Utilizes best available evidence to provide in the moment practice support;* Supports staff participation in personal and professional career development;* Completes practice audits and communicates outcomes to CPL;* Communicates and provides education related to practice changes to staff;* Reviews and assesses practice changes related to new products or equipment back ordersQUALIFICATIONS:* Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;* Minimum of 10 years experience working within acute care environments* Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S); * Proven clinical experience in adult inpatient acute care;* Expertise in Gentle Persuasive Approaches and Non-violent crisis intervention;* Expertise in telemetry monitoring;* Knowledge of Lakeridge Health policies and practices;* Proficient in documentation within the Epic system;* Theoretical and practical experience in adult education an asset;* Previous experience with mentorship of new staff or students;* Proven effective interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills;* Proven compliance with best practice and quality standards;* Demonstrated effective critical thinking, prioritization, and conflict resolution skills;* Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and,* Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and the capability of maintaining that same standard.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTAccommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
