ONAONA LAKERIDGE HEALTH CLINICAL RESEARCH NURSEREGISTERED NURSELAKERIDGE HEALTH RESEARCHFULL TIMEDAYS - 8 HOUR SHIFTS; (subject to change)Lakeridge Health OshawaSALARY: $33.90 - $48.53 per hour ONA- 2200000086 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:The Clinical Research Nurse reports to the Research Manager of Clinical Trials and collaborates with Investigators and the health care team in Nephrology, Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Orthopedics, and Intensive Care departments at multiple sites of Lakeridge Health. The Research nurse is responsible for the designated patient management and coordination of several clinical studiesAs an individual practitioner, the research nurse will maintain the competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. All shifts are day shifts, but will require flexible working hours to meet patient care and study needs; weekend coverage may be requested. Travel between Lakeridge Health sites and physician clinics for research activities will be required.Responsibilities of the Research Nurse will include recruitment of study participants (e.g. identifying, screening potential participants and obtaining informed consent); coordinating patient visit schedules as per study protocol; executing/coordinating all aspects of study visits (e.g. documentation of adverse events and medications, administration of questionnaires and medications, sample collection, sample processing, etc.); reviewing & assessing study-related documents; assisting with submissions to the Research Ethics Board; liaising with sponsors, external stakeholders and members of the clinical care team; implementing and coordinating all aspects of data collection, data entry, and source documentation, as per LH policy and ICH/GCP guidelines. * Maintain nursing records both in the hospital record, and in multiple other data sources relevant to specific clinical trials;* Perform other duties as assigned - which may include: assessment of eligibility; registration of patients to protocols; collection and submission of data in an accurate and timely fashion;* Perform the monitoring of study compliance; coordination of patient care; completion of patient tracking sheets and maintenance of the system;* Liaising with all levels of staff, physicians and external customers and adhere to strict confidentiality practices;* Review research protocols and assist in determining feasibility, completion of regulatory and ethics documents, and completing excel tracking sheets* Travel between Lakeridge Health sites and physician clinics for research activities QUALIFICATIONS:* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing)* At minimum 3 years clinical research experience required* Recent experience in Nephrology and/or Critical Care Nursing preferred* GCP (R2), Division 5, and TCPS Certification required* Proven familiarity with Research Ethics Board requirements for research as well as regulations concerning the protection of Human subjects in research* Experience in performing telephone triage* Attention to detail and meticulous documentation practice* Able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, self-motivated* Proven strong organizational, problem-solving, prioritization and teaching skills* Demonstrated to have effective interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal* Current or recent phlebotomy skills, or willing to receive training* Baccalaureate in Nursing or Health Sciences is an asset* Member of RNAO is an asset* Must have satisfactory performance record* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standardCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) .
