Non-UnionLAKERIDGE HEALTHNon-UnionLAKERIDGE HEALTHJob Title: Manager, RiskDepartment: Risk Management Status: Full Time, 8 hour day schedule (subject to change)Site: Lakeridge Health OshawaSalary: $46.62 - 58.27File Number: UNEX- 2100003005Duties & Responsibilities:Reporting to the Director of Quality Improvement and Risk, the Manager of Risk works collaboratively with Senior Leadership, Directors, Managers, Clinical Practice Leaders and various internal and external stakeholders to address risk management issues and implement hospital wide policies and other initiatives to mitigate risk.* Responds daily to organization-wide risk requests to provide expert consultation and advice on a wide variety of patient care, policy and administrative matters with internal constituents including senior leaders, managers, physicians and clinical staff;* Provides leadership and expertise in the development and ongoing support of Lakeridge Health's Enterprise Risk Management Program. Relying on excellent interpersonal, problem solving and team building skills; the Manager, Risk will support corporate-wide standardization for the identification, reporting, analysis and evaluation of risk issues and trends in an effort to develop and implement mitigation mechanisms in the support of patient safety and corporate-wide risk reduction;* Provides leadership and expertise in the management of the Hospital's professional liability and personal injury claims including investigations of claims with the organization's adjuster and legal counsel; the Manager, Risk may represent the organization at Examinations for Discovery and supports and guides staff defendants and managers through the legal process;* Provides leadership and expertise in the support and ongoing improvement of the online incident reporting system;* Responds to external requests and other sources of risk identification e.g., Coroner's requests in order that they are responded to in a manner that meets legislative, regulatory and best practice expectations including review, analysis and mitigation so as to support quality improvement and risk mitigation; * Serves as a key internal consultant and educator on matters relating to risk management and will liaise extensively with clinical staff, physicians and organizational leaders in supporting the development, implementation and support of effective risk management policies, plans and processes;* Ensures the annual completion of the Risk Assessment Checklists (RAC) required by hospital's Insurer, HIROC, and tracks follow-up actions;* Leads, mentors and supports the Risk team in the identification, implementation and monitoring of risk management activities; and,* Partners with internal and external stakeholders to maximize opportunities for collaboration and integration of best practice and ensure the organization's risk management processes are based on best practices and meet legal and regulatory requirements.Qualifications:* Baccalaureate degree in a health discipline or related field, Masters level preparation preferred;* Registration in good standing from a healthcare regulatory college, required* Experience leading risk management initiatives;* Previous experience with online incident reporting programs and electronic charts;* Management experience with proven ability to lead, motivate and mentor;* Training in risk management, certification preferred;* Demonstrated ongoing commitment to continuing education and professional development;* Proven coaching, facilitation and capacity building skills;* Demonstrated ability to measure and assess improvement and sustainment effectiveness;* Ability to function and lead collaboratively within and across interdisciplinary teams ;* Demonstrated excellence in all forms of communication with audiences across complex healthcare organizations;* Proven ability to employ improvement strategies; * Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and team building skills; * Ability to gain cooperation and support through effective use of influence and persuasion required as an agent of change;*Demonstrated ability to prioritize various demands in a dynamic and fast paced work environment and manage a number of projects simultaneously;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive patient safety and risk management programs and practices;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Teamwork, Compassion, Innovation, and Joy; CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Health's policies and procedures.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
