SALARY: $25.14 - $28.94 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the MLA Team Lead, Charge Technologist(s) or Manager, the Phlebotomist is responsible for performing duties including: collecting blood samples, performing ECG's, following proper blood collection techniques as outlined in the phlebotomy manual; ensuring correct patient identification prior to collecting and accurately labelling the samples; transporting of specimens to the laboratory for testing; reporting immediately any unusual incidents involving patients which occur in the performance of duties; following established safety and infection control procedures; other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Medical Laboratory Assistant certificate from a recognized training facility (in good standing);
* MLPAO (OSMT) and/or CSMLS Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician (MLA/T) certification required;
* Recent phlebotomy experience in a hospital or medical laboratory setting;
* Proven effective organizational, prioritization and time-management abilities;
* Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills;
* Proven strong team player abilities with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
* Knowledge of infection control principles and practices;
* Physically able to perform duties of lifting, bending, sitting and prolonged standing and walking;
* Ability to work in a high paced environment with frequent interruptions;
* Proven computer/keyboarding experience;
* Experience with pneumatic tube transport systems, an asset;
* Must have satisfactory performance record;

* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and
* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.
