DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To use nursing process in providing patient care. To participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team. As an individual practitioner, to maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. To maintain nursing records. Function as a member of a multidisciplinary team. To perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (must provide Annual Registration Payment Card), current B.C.L.S.;
* Sound knowledge and application of nursing skills listed in the C.N.O. "Standards of Nursing Practice";
* Minimum two years recent post anaesthetic care experience;
* Must have IV Start Certification; Cardiac monitoring course and/or Critical Care Certificate Course, Patient Assessment Course and demonstrated knowledge and ability to care for ventilated patients;
* Able to communicate information in an understandable, relevant and accurate manner;
* Ability to work independently on occasional shifts;
* Proven organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and teaching skills;
* Sound judgement, excellent observation and patient assessment skills, tact and empathy;
* Effective written and verbal communication skills;
* Able to perform appropriately in emergency situations;
* Able to lift, turn, transfer patients on beds, stretchers or recliner chairs, manually and with mechanical aids;
* Able to foster good public relations and effective working relationships in a family centered care environment;
* B.Sc.N. is preferred;
* A.C.L.S. certificate is preferred;
* Must have a satisfactory performance record;
* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participation in regular in service education sessions in this area; and
* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.
