ONALAKERIDGE HEALTHREGISTERED NURSE PACEMAKER CLINICCARDIAC DIAGNOSTICSREGULAR PART TIME8 Hour Day Shifts; (subject to change)Lakeridge Health Ajax/PickeringSalary: $33.56 - $48.05 per hourONA-2000000770DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As a member of the cardiac diagnostics team, the Pacemaker RN will focus on improving clinical outcomes and standards of care for cardiac patients with a focus on arrhythmia illnesses through patient assessment, follow-up, coordination of patient care for all aspects of the patient experience. They will perform pacemaker device interrogations, testing, and diagnostic interpretation, and device management. The Pacemaker RN will also be responsible for patient assessments, implementing treatment modalities with physician guidance as necessary, along with developing and evaluating clinic operations. They will work to develop strategies with the Patient Care Manager, to enhance clinic operations.QUALIFICATIONS:* Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required;* Baccalaureate in Nursing;* Minimum 1-year experience with comprehensive device management and confidence in interrogation of Pacemaker and ICD required;* Strong background in cardiovascular physiology, electrocardiography and rhythm interpretation;* Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level;* ACLS is required;* CCDS or equivalent certification is preferred; * Additional coronary care certification considered an asset, or in progress;* Coronary Care Certification or related experience, including arrhythmia interpretation;* Knowledge and ability to operate various industry programmers including Medtronic, Biotronic, Boston Scientific, and Sorin;* Knowledge of Cardiac Care Network Pacemaker Clinic Guidelines and a clear understanding of professional standards and scope of practice;* Demonstrated ability to provide professional practice leadership, to challenge and motivate others and to provide culturally sensitive care to meet the needs of diverse populations; * Commitment to continuing education to ensure maintenance of competencies and current best practices in device management; * Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations;* Demonstrates ability to independently problem solve using critical thinking and decision-making skills* Excellent communication, negotiation, teaching and interpersonal skills when provided care to patients, families, the community and with all members of the interprofessional team;* Computer skills should include competency with Word, Excel, Outlook, Meditech and PaceArt;* Evidence of ongoing professional development is an asset;* Bilingualism in French/English is an asset;* Must have satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and;* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) .
