OPSEULAKERIDGE HEALTHOCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST - HAND THERAPYOUTPATIENT REHABILITATIONTEMPORARY PART TIME8 hour Day Shifts (subject to change)Lakeridge Health Ajax/PickeringOPSEU-1900002134DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to the Manager, Outpatient Rehabilitation Services the Occupational Hand Therapist will be responsible for assessing and treating patients with a variety of hand conditions with a primary focus on acute, complex, surgical, soft tissue and fracture care. Work will occur in both an outpatient clinic setting and an outpatient Plastics clinic supporting the Lakeridge Health Surgical program . The Occupational Hang Therapist will establish linkages and collaborative working relationships with multidisciplinary teams including Plastic Clinic and outpatient teams to improve the continuum of care across the hospital. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:*Registered and in good standing with College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario;*Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy or combination of education and experience;*Minimum 1 year experience in a Hand Therapy clinical setting;*Demonstrated skill in fabricating static and dynamic splints;*Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively in a fast pasted/immediate care plastic or fracture clinic environment;*Strong problem solving skills;*Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations;*Ability to delegate tasks to Occupational Therapy Assistants/Physiotherapy Assistants as appropriate;*Excellent assessment, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community;*Ability to collaborate with inter-professional healthcare teams to create an interdisciplinary plan of care and a coordinated and appropriate discharge plan;*Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement;*Ability to perform the essential duties of the position and experience in evidence-based approach to service delivery;*Experience in educating and training staff, family, students and volunteers;*Knowledge of the relevant profession specific and general legislation, including the Health Care Consent Act, Substitute Decision Act and Public Hospital Act;*Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;*Must have a satisfactory performance record;*Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public; *Demonstrated understanding of and, commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and*Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and work recordSALARY: $33.59 - $46.56 per hourCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
