ONALAKERIDGE HEALTHREGISTERED NURSE MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM(Mental Health Emergency Service Unit)REGULAR PART TIMEDays/Evenings/Nights/Weekends Schedule; 4, 8 & 12 hour shifts (Subject to change)LAKERIDGE HEALTH OSHAWAONA-1900001451DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:To utilize the nursing process in providing exceptional patient and family centred care in an an exciting new model that integrates emergency department and mental health settings in a Mental Health Emergency Service Unit (MHESU). To participate as a member of the interprofessional team in an acute mental health environment. As an individual practitioner, to maintain competencies, professionalism and continued development relevant to current practice. Able to maintain accurate nursing records. Will conduct patient physical health and mental health assessments. Lastly, successful applicants will play key roles in the opening, evaluation and ongoing quality development of the MHESU.QUALIFICATIONS:* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);* Current BCLS;* Demonstrated commitment to maintaining Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO;* Mental Health Certificate is preferred;* Previous experience in acute Mental Health settings, including populations of children, adolescents and adults;* Proven experience working with interprofessional teams;* Successful completion of Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviour Program (CPI);* Proven ability to recognize and effectively diffuse escalating or volatile patients;* Exceptional oral and written communication skills;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety, and participation in regular in-service education in this area;*Demonstrated knowledge of community mental health and addiction resources;*Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;*Proven good attendance record with the ability of maintaining this same standard;*Able to work in a fast paced, changing environment;SALARY: $33.23 - $47.57 per hourCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified ONA staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit).Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
