DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Coding Quality Analyst will be responsible for: day to day operations related to coding and abstracting and will perform regular audits on coding/abstracting ensure quality of coding and adherence to coding standards. In addition, the incumbent will train new coding staff, facilitate the accurate coding and electronic abstracting of all in-patient and NACRS discharges, carry out technical functions involving Meditech, 3M and CIHI (specifically by maintaining the integrity of the dictionaries on all computer systems), coordinate & process Corporate month end activities, schedule and download upgrades/updates to 3M, as well as monitor, review & implement findings from 3terra DQA. The successful candidate will support the Health Information program by bringing forward quality concerns, potential solutions and developing & monitoring quality indicators for coded data. A key component of this position is the development and delivery of education to the broader team. In your role, you will be liaising with all levels of staff, physicians and external vendors and users. You will participate in the hiring, training, orientation, of new coding staff as well as further training and orientation of existing staff. You will also be responsible for monitoring of the staff performance. QUALIFICATIONS:* Certification with active membership in CHIMA;* Progressive experience coding within a Health Records Department; * Recent related significant experience in a supervisory and leadership role;* Excellent working knowledge of CCICD-10-CA coding and electronic abstracting; * Proven knowledge of the following methodologies; * Case mix group (CMG); * Complexity and age adjustment; * Resources intensity weight (RIW); * Comprehensive ambulatory care classification system (CACS); * Demonstrated knowledge of Meditech and 3M abstracting;* Proven excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; * Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meeting workload requirements;* Demonstrated effective communication, judgement and interpersonal skills;* Demonstrated understanding and ability to adhere to the customer focused/patient centered philosophy;* Demonstrated ability to be an effective team player; * Proven ability to work productively within a stressful environment while handling a large volume of work; * Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Courage and Trust;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participation in regular in service education sessions in this area; * Proven good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard; and,* Must be willing to travel from site to site and provide own transportation.
