By collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and advancing the role of information technology in supporting and enabling improvements in quality, efficiency, and safety of care. The Health Informatician will play an integral role in the design, training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of clinical hospital information systems. Lead the facilitation of communication between information technology experts, system/technical experts and clinical end users. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITES:* Lead the mapping and configuration of workflows to the clinical information systems, using process improvement principles and methodologies.* Assess clinical user needs, and generate system requirements based on those needs and system capabilities by engaging key stakeholders.* Determine appropriate data sources and gaps in data sources in relation to identified business needs across the healthcare system.* Develop proposals and electronic solutions for clinical requirements, through iterative engagement with key stakeholders. * Participate in the development of Request for Proposal documents, and evaluation / selection of applications as required.* Promote electronic solutions that support standardization of clinical processes to advance the quality of patient care, decrease variations in practice, and optimize utilization of health care resources.* Lead the design, training, implementation, evaluation, maintenance, and evolution of processes, workflows, and structures to realize the value of clinical information systems in all clinical areas. * Lead clinical system project teams in the implementation of applications. * Lead a continuous quality improvement approach with ongoing review and revision of clinical workflows and processes to achieve the benefits of clinical information systems.* Perform audits, custom reports, and data analysis to identify areas for quality improvement and efficiency as it relates to clinical information systems and workflows.* Promote an information and evidence-based culture informed by data collection and analytics.* Collaborate with clinical and IT teams in the configuration and use of standardized documentation, integrated clinical alerts, and decision support tools.* Develop knowledge in legislation, professional, hospital and accreditation standards and work with clinical teams to incorporate these into clinical information systems and workflows.* Develop education plans, facilitate training, and support clinical users.* Design and maintain training tools and materials. * Support the utilization of clinical informatics best practices and adoption of Clinical Information * Systems and applications; Work with clinical teams to eliminate barriers to adoption.* Assist in ongoing support of current applications including tracking, implementing, or facilitating change requests to correct or enhance information systems/applications. * Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures pertaining to the use of clinical information system applications.* Work with Leadership, IT, Interprofessional Practice (IPP), Health Information Management (HIM) and the Data Service Unit (DSU) to capture data, and develop metrics, reports, and analytics applicable to clinical care activities* Keep abreast of current developments in clinical informatics through site visits, professional development, or research.* Participate on committees as assigned; including outside agencies as required.* Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science or related field;* LEAN, Six Sigma yellow/green belt or equivalent experience in Process mapping and quality improvement;* Project Management course completion or equivalent experience in leading large projects;* Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in Health informatics or relevant field;* Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in Clinical informatics;* Experience building and designing clinical workflow processes within an HIS;* Experience in educational course design, teaching/training and implementation;* Demonstrated proficiency with all listed competencies; * Master's degree preferred;* Project Management experience/certification is an asset;* Ability to travel from site to site;* Flexibility of working hours might be episodically required; * Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Courage and Trust;* Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area; and* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Health's policies and procedures.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
