DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Acute Pain Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an expert practitioner who contributes to the delivery of patient care through development and support of nursing staff and the inter-professional team to deliver sound patient care. The CNS empowers nursing staff through education, clinical support and the development of supportive programs/ standards of care in congruence with the mission of the hospital and the philosophy of Nursing Professional Practice and the Clinical Program. The Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist utilizes theoretical and clinical expertise in the area of pain management to facilitate the provision of direct and indirect nursing care to patients with complex pain management needs within the Surgical Program.

Consistent with the mission vision and values of Lakeridge Health and as a nurse leader in the field of pain management, the CNS effectively functions as a role model, resource and consultant to individuals and groups within the organization, the external professional community and other external agencies.
To realize the full scope and potential of the role, the CNS has the support of and works in collaboration with the interprofessional team and all levels of organizational leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master's degree in Nursing required;
* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
* Current BCLS required;
* CNA Critical Care Certification required;
* Proven experience working in an advanced clinical practice role, preferably in a CNS role;
* Additional preparation or experience in pain management preferred;
* Demonstrated experience working in an advanced clinical practice role in a pain management preferred;
* Additional preparation or experience in pain management preferred;
* Membership in registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) preferred;
* Effective customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills;
* Strong decision-making, problem recognition and problem solving skills;
* Effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize;
* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Courage and Trust;
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and,
* Proven good attendance record with the capability of maintaining this same standard.

SALARY: $45.02 - $53.44 per hour
