ONALAKERIDGE HEALTHREGISTERED NURSEENDOSCOPYCORPORATE SURGICAL PROGRAMTEMPORARY PART TIME4 & 8 HOUR DAY SHIFT SCHEDULE (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)LAKERIDGE HEALTH OSHAWAONA-1800001577DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As part of the Surgical Program, the Endoscopy Unit provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients with gastrointestinal and respiratory disorders, including pre, intra and post procedural care. Using an advanced level of nursing practice and excellent assessment skills, the Endoscopy nurse monitors pre, intra and post procedural patient's progress while recovering from moderate and deep intravenous sedation/analagesia. Nursing care will include advanced assessment skills; patient education; treatment and care planning pre, intra and post procedure; recovery and discharge within a patient-focused model. The RN is responsible for knowledge, care and handling of the endoscopy technical equipment and instruments. Also to perform other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);* Current B.C.L.S.;* Previous clinical work experience in Endoscopy preferred (within 2 years);* Must have minimum of 2 years recent related critical care nursing experience (i.e. Critical/Intensive Care Unit, Post Anaesthetic Care Unit, Emergency Room);* Perioperative nursing experience preferred;* Must have recent (within 2 year) experience in preparation, intra procedure care and recovery of patients receiving Moderate and Deep intravenous sedation/analgesia; * Proficient in IV therapy;* Proven effective interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving and teaching skills, and a willingness to promote learning for students in the endoscopy unit;* Member of the Canadian Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (CSGNA) preferred;* Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO;* Physically capable of lifting, turning, pushing, pulling and transferring patients manually and with mechanical aides;* BScN, preferred;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Courage and Trust;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and,* Proven good attendance record with the capability of maintaining this same standard.SALARY: $32.66 - $46.76 per hourCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified ONA staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
