CUPELAKERIDGE HEALTH PERIOPERATIVE SUPPORT PERSON MATERNAL CHILD PROGRAMBIRTHING SUITEREGULAR PART TIMEDays/Evenings/Nights/Weekends Schedule; 8 & 12 hour shiftsLakeridge Health OshawaCUPE - 1800001262 (Subsequent)DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Birthing Suite Service Associate (SA) is an integral member of the Mat/Newborn Program and multidisciplinary team working in close collaboration with other team members in providing support for the birthing area. Duties include, but are not limited to: transporting of patients; assisting with the positioning of patients as required; maintaining equipment and reporting need for repairs; transporting, setting up and cleaning of equipment as required; transporting specimens; performing errands to departments; assisting with ordering, receiving and stocking of supplies; replenishing of carts and rooms with supplies; cleaning of Birthing Suite (as per recommended guidelines); emptying and transporting of garbage and linen; changing of sharps containers; defrosting and cleaning of refrigerators; cleaning of microwaves; handling of placental tissue; preparing soiled case carts for transportation to SPD in a timely manner; and other duties and tasks as required.QUALIFICATIONS:* Successful completion of the CSAO course required (in the event that there are no applicants who meet the posted qualifications, consideration may be given to applicants willing to complete the CSAO certification course within six months of the closing date of the job posting);* Current CPR certificate;* Surgical suite or birthing suite experience as an SA preferred;* Proven effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills;* Demonstrated sound knowledge of fundamentals of universal precautions relating to supplies and specimens;* Must be able to work as a member of the Maternal/NB team with minimal supervision;* Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships;* Demonstrated ability to foster good public relations and work within an environment which fosters a culture of patient and family centered care;* Physically capable of performing duties including: ability to walk extensively, climb stairs on a regular basis and lift/transfer/transport patients by stretcher, bed and/or wheelchair; other physical activities include lifting, bending, and reaching to accomplish tasks;* Must be flexible and able to adapt easily to new situations including emergency situations;* Must be able to work all shifts and weekends;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Courage and Trust;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area;* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.SALARY RANGE: $23.190 - $24.240 per hourCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364 (Clerical Bargaining Unit).Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
