DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As an integral member of the Occupational Health and Safety Department, the Abilities Case Management Specialist will employ the principles of integrated disability management in order to ensure effective early intervention and safe return to work of employees from STD, WSIB, and LTD. In addition, the Abilities Case Management Specialist will provide support to managers on attendance related issues involving employee illness/injury, modified work design and permanent accommodations; review illness/injury trends with a view to the development of prevention initiatives; participate and assist management in grievance preparation and at mediations and arbitrations as required. QUALIFICATIONS:" A degree in a related discipline; e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Kinesiology, Social Work, RN, Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources;" Completion/or in the progress of completing an appropriate program and/or working toward credentials in the fields of Disability Management (CDMP) and/or Occupational Health & Safety (COHN);" Certification as a Disability Management Professional/Specialist is preferred:" Previous hospital experience is preferred." Previous WSIB experience is an asset;" Sound knowledge of the principles of disability management, attendance management and group benefits within a unionized environment;" Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety software systems (Parklane System) is preferred;" Extensive experience in facilitating return to work programs including temporary modified work and permanent accommodation programs;" Working knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g. Human Rights Codes (HRC), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA);" Demonstrated intermediate computer skills - Microsoft Office Word and Excel (tested);" Strong analytical, interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills;" Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education sessions" Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;SALARY: $32.88 - $41.60 per hourCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Health's policies and procedures.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
