DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Screening & Prevention Lead works along with a multidisciplinary team to successfully develop and implement strategic cancer prevention and screening initiatives across the Central East LHIN. The Screening & Prevention Lead works in close partnership with the regional communication leads and multiple community stakeholders to achieve the goals of Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) and the Central East Regional Cancer Program (CERCP), with particular focus on public and provider awareness of breast, cervical and colorectal cancer programs to increase cancer screening participation rates. The responsibilities include: support the planning, project management and delivery of regional cancer prevention and screening strategies; leading and facilitating regional education and CS health promotion activities; raising public awareness and uptake of screening through development of annual education and health promotion plans; monitoring and evaluating the delivery of regional knowledge exchange activities and their impact on adoption of CCO's CS program and targets; providing education, orientation, training and support to screening and assessment sites related to CS policies, practices, guidelines and quality assurance requirements; reviewing the CE LHIN's screening performance indicators and develops methods of communicating this data in an appropriate, meaningful and effective fashion to sites, health care providers and the public; developing and maintaining strong relationships with community partners, community health centres, regional partnering hospitals, family health teams, independent health facilities; facilitating, collaborating and sharing of best practices within the region and with primary care; managing/overseeing resources materials including maintenance and distribution to stakeholders; developing grant proposals in response to identified funding opportunities for initiatives related to cancer screening; coordinating the CE Cancer Prevention and Screening Network; working closely with the Data & Assessment and Quality & Assessment Leads.QUALIFICATIONS:*Undergraduate degree in an education, applied health science, and/or community health-related discipline;*Demonstrated experience with health promotion and primary prevention initiatives;*Demonstrated experience with public speaking and delivering presentation to groups of varying sizes*Proven Professional experience/leadership role in a health care setting;*Proven understanding of the complexities of the Ontario Cancer System, the Ontario Cancer Plan and the Cancer 2020 vision is an asset;*Proven knowledge of Central East (CE) LHIN and the relevant stakeholders involved in cancer prevention and screening;*Ability to assess region-wide needs, formulate plans to address the needs, and the subsequent implementation and evaluation of strategic initiatives to increase cancer screening rates and promote primary prevention; * demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills and evidence-based practice;*Originality in methods and solutions to positively impact cancer screening rates and healthy lifestyle behaviours;*Effective communication and interpersonal skills;*Ability to work in diverse environments; both collaborating and motivating multiple groups and stakeholders with varying levels of education, and skill set, while also working effectively on independent projects;*Effective organizational and time management skills;*Computer skills at an intermediate level (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Publisher) tested:*Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area.SALARY: $35.930 - $40.158 per hourCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Health's policies and procedures.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
