Position Summary

As a member of the Nutrition and Food Services team, the Dietary Aide is responsible for contributing to a positive patient experience. While adhering to safe food handling and sanitation practices and following established procedures, the Dietary Aide is responsible for food assembly, meal and nourishment delivery and pick-up, storage of supplies, cleaning and sanitizing work areas, utensils, dishes and equipment, as well as other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

" Food Handlers training and certification is required
" Food preparation and/or food service experience
" Proven working knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices
" Knowledge of standardized recipes and portion control is an asset
" Knowledge of food service sanitation practices of work areas, equipment, dishes and utensils is an asset
" Flexible in terms of availability for weekends, holidays and short notice call-in shifts
" Strong commitment to customer service and effective communication and interpersonal skills
" Ability to work both independently and in a team atmosphere
" Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position

Conditions of Employment

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E. Local 1999(Service Bargaining Unit).
