The Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in supporting financial health through delivering accurate financial reporting. The position is responsible for is an integral finance team member who ensures the integrity, accuracy and completeness of Financial Reporting deliverables. The team member works collaboratively with both Finance and health care teams across the organization to enable LH's strategic objectives while ensuring sustainability and minimizing financial risk. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Financial Lead has primary responsibility for routine cyclical financial close processes and analysis of operating activity. In this capacity, this position is responsible for the accounting and analysis of transactions and projects that require a comprehensive understanding of general health care operations, complex financial modeling and the ability to operate at a high level of independent thinking, while working collaboratively cross functionally internally and with external stakeholders and donors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of corporate Financial Statements. Financial statement preparation and consolidation
" Scope of responsibilities will include hospital and long-term care financial reporting and related full-cycle accounting, this may include Ministry funding, patient revenue, payroll, inventory and expense analysis to name the more significant areas, but also any item relevant to the full-cycle accounting of operations.
" Support monthly reporting and accounting of hospital and long-term care operations in SAP and ancillary financial systems.
" Optimize workflow processes within SAP S4HANA
" Prepare journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules.
" Assist with annual external interim and year-end audit by completing requested materials, preparing assigned schedules, and working directly with auditors.
" Treasury and cash flow forecasting to ensure the hospital maintains key balance sheet metrics.
" Patient revenue and accounts receivable analysis. Experience with EPIC and/or PointClickCare would be an asset.
" Maintain timely reconciliation of financial data from our clinical information systems (Epic and PointClickCare) to our SAP financial system (accounts receivable and drug inventories).
" Ensure organization compliance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
" Keep abreast of changes in MOHLTC, HSFR, the Ontario Health Reporting Standards (OHRS) and the Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAB).
" Review internal controls and related stakeholder compliance. Help develop new, and revise existing, accounting policy and procedures to complement the desired internal controls.
" Help ensure compliance with relevant indirect tax legislation.
" Work with other senior finance personnel on process improvements, proactively suggesting and implementing efficiencies to accounting cycle processes.
" Prepare ad hoc reports and presentations for all levels of management.
" Ensure any assigned Ministry reports & submissions are completed accurately and on time. Submit as required using the Ministry directed format and platform/portal.
" Indirectly providing coaching and mentoring to junior Finance team members, while maintaining employee engagement, creating a learning environment and working collaboratively to promote a strong team dynamic
" Assist with all monthly and quarterly reporting relative to budget / plan to inform in year operational performance and subsequent actions and decisions by Senior Management relative to that performance.
" Provide input to the annual operating plan and provide regular forecasts as needed
" Assist with other hospital ancillary (e.g. Foundations) accounting and reporting efforts when required, either on an ad hoc basis or as part of a mutually agreed upon expanded scope of responsibilities.
" Assist with other LTC Home ancillary accounting and reporting efforts (e.g. Trust Fund, LTC Resident Council, LTC Family Council, Tuck Shop) " Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and management.
" Cross coordination with finance management and staff and other functional areas across the organization, most notably operating (Program) personnel, and outside the organization, primarily government ministries and our Foundations, on issues of reporting and analysis. Working with stakeholders to review procedures and recommend changes to gain efficiencies while ensuring effective controls are in place.


QUALIFICATIONS:

" Bachelor's degree in business/finance/accounting and a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) required.
" Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial reporting or general accounting role.
" Minimum x years of experience in a financial role in the Long-Term Care sector.
" Working knowledge of legislation, government policies and funding models for the Long-Term Care sector.
" Demonstrated extensive knowledge and practical application of Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS), the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) handbook and Public-sector Accounting Board (PSAB).
" Experience with SAP, PointClickCare and Power BI would be an asset.
" Advanced skills with the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
" Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and create a high-performance culture that facilitates growth and development within a team environment.
" Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships.
" Exceptional communication skills - verbal written, report-writing and presentations.
" Strong change management skills and strategies to support goal achievement.
" Advanced skills in working collaboratively professionally with a broad range of internal and
" external stakeholders/partners in keeping with the strategic direction of Lakeridge Health and the goals of the department.
" Proven to be highly self-motivated, creative and with enthusiasm for change.
" Team player and team builder; strong customer service skills.
" Able to handle complex and/or multiple deadlines at one time.
" Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills including assessment and evaluation skills and the ability to think strategically and critically.
