The Senior Communications Advisor is a strategic communications leader responsible for delivering high-impact internal and external communications that support organizational priorities, strengthen reputation, and engage diverse audiences. Working in a fast-paced health-care environment, this role provides trusted counsel to staff, physicians and volunteers across Lakeridge Health and leads integrated communications initiatives across corporate communications, public relations, and digital channels to ensure clear, coordinated, and compelling messaging.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Counsel
" Develop and execute integrated communications strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
" Provide strategic counsel to leaders on internal communications, public relations, digital engagement, and issues management.
" Anticipate risks and opportunities and recommend proactive communications approaches.

Corporate and Internal Communications
" Lead communications for corporate initiatives, organizational change, and system-wide priorities.
" Develop executive messaging, intranet and e-bulletin content, briefing materials, presentations, and toolkits.
" Support Town Halls, leadership meetings, and engagement events, including messaging and post-event communications.
" Partner with leaders and operational teams to ensure consistent and timely communications.

Public Relations and Media
" Support media relations, announcements, campaigns, and issues management.
" Develop key messages, media materials, and digital content.
" Monitor media coverage and support coordinated responses.

Digital and Social Media
" Support digital and social media strategy, content planning, and community engagement.
" Oversee content creation and publishing across social, web, and email platforms.
" Ensure brand consistency, accessibility (AODA), and best practices.
" Use analytics to evaluate performance and optimize communications.

Brand and Governance
" Uphold brand standards, voice, and visual identity across all channels.
" Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency of messaging.
" Contribute to communications standards, tools, and best practices.

Team Contribution
" Provide mentorship and informal leadership within the communications team.
" Participate in after-hours/on-call communications support as required.
" Support organizational events and milestones.


QUALIFICATIONS:

" Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
" 5-8 years of progressive communications experience, including internal/corporate and/or public relations.
" Experience advising senior leaders in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
" Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
" Strong strategic thinking, judgment, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
" Proficiency with Microsoft Office, digital and social media platforms, analytics tools, and email marketing systems.
" Experience with content management systems (e.g., SharePoint) and design tools (e.g., Canva).
" Comfort using emerging technologies, including AI-powered communications tools, responsibly and ethically.
" Health care and/or public sector experience is an asset.
" Must have a satisfactory performance record.
