This is Lakeridge Health!DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Patient Care Manager, Emergency Mental Health Services, reports to the Senior Director, Mental Health and Addictions. This position is responsible for the management of an evolving range of Inpatient and Outpatient Emergency Mental Health and Addictions services, including the Mental Health Support Unit and Crisis Call Diversion Program (both collaboratives with Durham Regional Police), Crisis Intervention Team (at the Ajax and Oshawa sites) and what is known as Zone 11 (the dedicated Mental Health and Addictions area in the Lakeridge Health Oshawa Emergency Department). The incumbent will play a key role in advancing the vision, model and strategic implementation of the multi year plan in work to advance emergency mental health services together with our Emergency Department colleagues and community partners.While leading with Lakeridge Health values and patient-centred approach, in collaboration with all members of the health care team, the successful incumbent will use their effective planning, budgeting and problem solving skills, to ensure: the development of unit and program processes; human resource recruitment and retention; and to develop/support business goals including operational efficiencies and optimized interdisciplinary team functioning. As well, will develop, facilitate and support the implementation of evidence based processes and practices to achieve excellence in high quality delivery of patient care.The Patient Care Manager will have personal drive and the need to achieve results by working to accomplish unit outcomes and setting goals and priorities that maximize the use of resources and to inspire others to work towards common goals by engaging and empowering staff.QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor degree in a health related discipline required;* Master's degree or current enrollment in a Master's program, is preferred;* Regulated Health Professional with current registration in good standing with a professional College required;* Mental Health Nursing Certification is an asset;* Current B.C.L.S.;* Extensive knowledge and practice experience in mental health settings;* Advanced knowledge in patient centred, recovery focused and trauma informed models of care;*Advanced knowledge of emergency care for mental health and addictions across the lifespan* Recent Mental Health management experience, including both adult and youth populations;* Proven track record of achieving results that improve the organization and inspire confidence and commitment;* Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and create a high performance culture through change management strategies that facilitates growth and development;* Demonstrated knowledge of hospital functions and current trends in health care;* Proven knowledge of and ability to work with Collective Agreements and Labour Relations issues;* Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and related best practice guidelines;* Proven ability to problem-solve and critically analyze issues;* Proven management skills including financial, human resources, quality improvement, project planning and risk, change management, evaluation and utilization management skills;* Well-developed negotiation and conflict management/resolution skills;* Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills including the ability to fully utilize communication tools;* Must have satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and;* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;At Lakeridge Health, we value inclusion and diversity.
