Reporting to the Manager, IDEAA and Wellness the IDEAA Consultant will be an unapologetically outspoken and brave person who is passionate about making meaningful change at the organizational level. Our IDEAA department is seeking someone who understands the importance of this work, has done their own work around becoming an ally and wants to change the landscape of healthcare, both for our team members and the people we serve, within the region of Durham.

The IDEAA Consultant is an expert and thought leader who will thrust the organization forward in building a culture where everyone feels represented and valued and has equal opportunity to learn, grow and contribute their best.

This position will promote the principles of inclusivity, equity and continuous learning and development to support both the physical and psychological safety, engagement and effectiveness of Lakeridge's team members and the communities we serve.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Accessibility and Anti-Racism Consultant will be the key team member who will help with the development and implementation of programs, policies, and initiatives to advance our IDEAA priorities at Lakeridge Health. You will be a key point of contact with people across the hospital, collaborating to educate, guide and champion actions that support IDEAA.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

" Lead the development and delivery of IDEAA education to internal and external stakeholders
" Continued development of the organizational Accessibility work and committee
" Create a culture of IDEAA learning and awareness by developing and delivering IDEAA events across the organization and with community partners
" Knowledgeable and experienced in policy development
" Help cultivate the IDEAA champions program across Lakeridge Health
" Prepare IDEAA reports, metrics, organizational communications, presentations and learning materials
" organizing IDEAA events
" Leverage opportunities to embed IDEAA within hospital departments and sites
" Build relationships and partnerships with various structurally underserved communities
" Collaborate with key stakeholder to implement and monitor the IDEAA multi-year action plan
" Act as a key point of contact for all IDEAA related questions and inquiries from team members
" Maintain awareness of legislation, regulations, standards and best practices related to accessibility and accommodations for persons with disabilities
" Any additional duties as required


QUALIFICATIONS:


" University degree in a related field, preferably social justice, social studies, human rights, public administration or Social Work
" Experience in planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring IDEAAA projects and major initiatives
" Ability to speak up and identify systemic oppression, discriminatory practices and create brave spaces
" Deep understanding and/or lived experience of the structurally underserved communities
" Working knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Anti-Racism Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and other relevant legislation
" Strong record of establishing credibility and building relationships at all levels and providing proactive and responsive solutions
" Team-oriented individual that is engaged and motivated to strengthen and maintain team culture
" Solid organizational skills and aptitude to effectively handle numerous projects and initiatives
" Excellent collaboration, oral, and written communication skills with public speaking and facilitation skills
" Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
" Ability to work well with diverse internal groups and all levels within the organization
