Job Title: Orthopaedic Technologist (Repost)
Status: Temporary Full Time (~12 Months)
Program: Emergency
8 Hour Shifts, Evenings Schedule (Subject to Change)

Wage Schedule: $33.940 - $39.070 per hour

This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 2 July 2025 and closing at 11:59 pm on 9 July 2025.

The Registered Orthopaedic Technologist will report to the Surgical Ambulatory Clinics / Endoscopy / RAC clinic Manager and primarily work out of the LHO Emergency Department, carry out responsibilities and assist in the care and education of orthopaedic and plastic patients presenting to Emergency Department requiring care within the scope of the Orthopaedic Technologist practice; functioning under the direction of the ER Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Orthopaedic / Plastic Surgeon; works with the health care team in providing a safe environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and others working at LHO Emergency Department and LHO Fracture Clinic.

Duties include: ordering supplies and maintaining equipment relevant to the Orthopaedic Technologist role; treatment documentation, educating patients and their families on cast care, orthopaedic assistive devices ie: crutches, walking boots, triage patients for follow up in Ortho / Plastic Fracture clinic; participating in CQI; collection of data for stats other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

*Current certification with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT)
*Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification based on the Ontario Heart and Stroke Standards
*Ability to lift, turn, transfers patients manually and with mechanical aids, using the Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention Policy and Procedures
*Ability to wear personal protective equipment as regulated
*Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
*Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
*Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgment
*Ability to perform the essential duties of the position

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
