Through continuous supervision of care team members Emergency Department at LHO, the Clinical Supervisor promotes care that is patient centered, timely and efficient. The Clinical Supervisor enables care team members to coordinate and integrate services, encourages ongoing performance improvement, and maximizes the use of available resources to facilitate efficient and excellent patient care throughout the department.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*Plans, organizes, leads and controls the activities of the department including; supporting and promoting a culture of professional growth, responsibility, respect and safety; performance recognition; and instilling an appreciation for our Mission, Vision and Values.*Ensures staff resources are aligned to deliver complete and consisted patient centered care by: assisting in the recruitment process; overseeing the staffing and scheduling areas to ensure proper process and adherence to collective agreements is occurring; investigating and resolving complaints in regards to scheduling issues; aligning patient care needs to the needs of the department, other departments and external facilities; ensuring adherence to policies, procedures and standards of care; and collaborating with team regarding scheduling, orientation, training and development.*Operationalizes the success of the department by: participating in the grievance process; anticipating and minimizing organizational and unit based barriers; setting performance goals for achieving maximum scope of practice; demonstrating effective working relationships; and partnering with the Patient Care Manager and Clinical Practice Leaders to ensure a collaborative work setting.*Supports the PCM in managing several key processes including attendance support, Patient Experience Management and WeCare reports processes.*Daily scheduling and coordination of resources; ensuring ED supplies are adequately maintained; recommending and collaborating in the creation and implementation of policies; and continuously monitoring ED flowQUALIFICATIONS:*Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or a health-related discipline;*Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required*Current BCLS; ACLS; PALS is preferred*Canadian Association Nursing Emergency Nursing Certification preferred,*Proven significant recent emergency nursing experience in initiatives and project management;*Proven evidence of ongoing education (e.g., workshops, seminars, etc.)*Demonstrated knowledge of hospital nursing functions and current trends in nursing and health care;*Proven flexibility, initiative, independent judgment and ability to be self-directed within scope of responsibility*Demonstrated strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task*Proven effective interpersonal, communication, negotiation and conflict management*Proven effective problem solving and critical thinking skills*Proven capacity to quickly gain credibility through personal style and professionalism with proven capacity to nurture and mentor others*Demonstrated strong presentation skills*Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork, and Joy*Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this areaCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Health's policies and procedures.Lakeridge Health thanks all applicants, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
