OPSEUJob Title: Nuclear Medicine TechnologistStatus: Regular Part TimeDepartment: Nuclear Medicine (In Vivo)Program: Diagnostic Imaging Services8 Hour Shifts - Days, Evenings, Weekends, On-Call (Subject to Change)Location: Lakeridge Health OshawaWage Schedule: $36.840 - $50.240 per hourPosting Reference: 2400001715DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to the Nuclear Medicine/PET Manager and Corporate Charge Technologist, the Registered Technologist performs general PET-CT and Nuclear Medicine procedures and assists the Nuclear Medicine physician with specialized procedures according to the standards of practice. The Technologist is also responsible for maintaining patient safety and comfort; directing and planning for daily patient flow in the department; assisting in the clerical functions of the department; participating in student training; and maintaining competence as required by the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario. Other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:* Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario in good standing;* Completion of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine;* Completion of an accredited training program in PET and CT an asset;* Knowledge of Ministry reporting responsibilities, PET Scans Ontario/OH-CCO processes an asset;* Knowledge of the use of electronic image management system, electronic patient records systems, Nuclear Medicine and PET advanced post-processing applications, ceiling lifts, scanners and fax machines;* Must be able to perform all required imaging procedures and therapy procedures;* Proven good organizational, prioritization and time-management skills;* Proven excellent communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills;* Physically capable of performing all aspects of the technologist's duties including 12 Lead ECG, peripheral IV, sentinel lymph node and PICC line injections;* Must be able to use all types of imaging equipment and ancillary equipment (including hot lab equipment) as required;* Must be able to work independently to assess and prioritize requests, review resources and provide patient care;* Must be able to perform duties in the hot lab for preparation of radioactive generators, prepare radiopharmaceuticals from commercial kits, perform quality control and to inject intravenously;* Must be able to perform quality control on all equipment;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, radiation safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area;* 3 years' experience in a community hospital setting, preferred;* Current BLS training;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; and* Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) .
