Supporting and managing the Physiotherapy, Recreation Therapy, Social Work Teams at Lakeridge Gardens. This state-of-the-art long-term care home sets a new bar for seniors' care, with dining and outdoor space on every floor, a large courtyard, onsite diabetes care and other important innovative features.Just as Lakeridge Health is a beacon in the Durham community, the new long-term care home will be integral to managing and delivering on the needs and expectations of seniors in the Durham community and Ontario.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:" Ensuring an appropriate and diverse calendar of recreational and therapeutic programming is available to all residents by thorough assessment and evaluation of their needs, utilizing community resources, and by directing the work of the program supports department" Developing and coordinating special events, outings and entertainment, volunteer programs, and religious and spiritual programs" Participating in resident assessments and collaborating with the care team to devise effective care plans" Effectively managing human resources, including monitoring and evaluating staff performance, completing of annual performance appraisals, conducting staff appreciation and/or progressive discipline measures where required, and developing annual goals and objectives for the Program Supports department" Effectively managing financial and material resources to achieve departmental goals/objectives by creating an annual budget, monitoring expenditures, conducting audits, maintaining accurate records, and tracking resident participation in programming" Adapting and changing services based on feedback to maintain resident satisfaction and to improve services by: conducting formal and informal feedback audits, responding to resident inquiries and complaints in a timely manner, proactively identifying practices and procedures in need of change, and providing all employees with thorough training" Providing effective leadership and expertise by researching and keeping up to date on current trends, standards, and techniques in geriatric recreation, social work, occupational therapy and rehabilitation services" Communicating and working in collaboration with employees across different departments in order to provide the highest quality of care to residents, and to achieve the collective goals and objectives of the organization" Working in accordance with the provisions of applicable Long Term Care Homes Act, health and safety legislation and all corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to occupational health and safetyQUALIFICATIONS:" Graduate of a post-secondary education program in recreation, occupational therapy, gerontology, social work, or a related field" Minimum three (3) years leadership experience in a long-term care facility" Considerable experience designing, implementing, overseeing and evaluating the operation of programming in the areas of resident and volunteer services, including: recreation, social work, spiritual care, and rehabilitation and occupational therapy" Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs" Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with residents, families, community professionals and various health care agencies" Demonstrated experience with financial, accounting and budgetary functions" Sound project management experience" Superior supervisory skills, including team building and motivational abilities" Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past 6 months" Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy" Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area" Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standardCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Health's policies and procedures.Lakeridge Health thanks all applicants, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
