McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre (DRCC) is seeking a new permanent Medical Physicists to join our team. The DRCC is part of the Lakeridge Health hospital in Oshawa and provides radiation therapy services to the 1.6 million people living in the area of the Central East Cancer Program. The medical physics team is responsible for all facets of medical physics services for the DRCC and within the Central East Regional Cancer Program and is instrumental in ensuring that radiation doses are delivered in an accurate, effective, and safe manner. The DRCC is one of the sites associated with the University of Toronto Medical Physics Residency Program providing the opportunity for teaching and mentoring of physics residents as well as academic appointments. About the Position:- Specification, selection, acceptance testing, commissioning and calibration of equipment used for planning and delivery of radiation treatments.- Design and implementation of quality assurance programs related to equipment, dosimetry and treatment planning.- Development and maintenance of databases for treatment planning.- Implementation, maintenance of and adherence to the Radiation Safety program in accordance with federal (CNSC) and provincial (HARP) government regulations.- Provide technical direction, expertise and advice to radiation oncologists, radiation dosimetrists (treatment planners) and radiation therapists on appropriate choices of treatment techniques and patient dosimetry.- Provide imaging expertise for radiation treatment planning and delivery verification- Initiate and participate in the implementation of new techniques and technologies within the Radiation Program.- Teach physics residents, radiation oncology residents, radiation therapist students, new staff and visitors through didactic sessions, seminars and one-on-one interactions.Required Qualifications:- MSc or PhD in Medical Physics, Physics or a related subject from a recognized university.- Completion of a residency or training program in Radiation Oncology Physics as demonstrated by a successful residency final exam, or equivalent.- Certification in the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) or equivalent is desirable.
