DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Ontario Trauma Registry (OTR) Reporting Specialist works in collaboration with the Trauma Leadership, Finance, Decision Support, and clinical teams to support the data collection, entry, analysis, correction, and reconciliation of all defined Trauma activities though the Ontario Trauma Registry, while adhering to strict guidelines and deadlines set out by Critical Care Services Ontario (CCSO). The role requires extensive knowledge of clinical data reporting metrics and data quality provisions collection, tracking, trending, and analysis of accurate and timely data required by local, regional, and provincial levels.

Reporting to the Director, Critical Care, Trauma and Respiratory Services, and under guidance from the Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Coordinator , and the Decision Support Business Partner, this position is responsible for: data collection, entry, analysis, correction, and reconciliation of all defined Trauma activities though the Ontario Trauma Registry, to support strategic and operational decision making in the Trauma Program, as well as informing clinical practice outcomes; monitoring performance metrics; assisting in reporting and related systems associated with local and regional trauma activities. The successful candidate will support our internal management reporting to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
* Work collaboratively with the team to ensure data integrity and consistency related to trauma care at Lakeridge Health
* Analyze reports generated and developed in Epic.
* Accurately code and abstract clinical and administrative data from the electronic medical records to ensure data is validated prior to upload into the Ontario Trauma Registry.
* Support and inform the Leadership Team and various program stakeholders across Lakeridge Health through interpreting regular statistical and narrative data and utilization
* Prepare reports ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and yearly to inform trauma performance improvement across Lakeridge Health
* Trend variances in registry data through the review of the electronic medical record and assist in the development of plans to improve to maintain data integrity and consistency.
*Consistently provide feedback to team members on reporting requirements, validity of cases, omissions of documentation.
*Establish professional relationships with Trauma Registry Specialists at other hospitals across Ontario while contributing to working groups at the provincial and regional level.
* Meet deadline(s) in the submission of required reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Completion of University/Community College degree/diploma in business or health related program; master's preferred.
* Completion of a bachelor's degree in health information management or other related field required clinical background is preferred
* Community College - 3-year Diploma Data Management required.
* One (1) year related experience working in a health care environment, preferred
*Experience in reporting to hospital/system type health care databases (NACRS, DADS); experience reporting to the Ontario Trauma Registry is preferred.
* Demonstrated understanding of Trauma cases. Type of cases, treatments, and workflow; preferred.
* Certification in Abbreviated Injury Score (AIS) is preferred.
* Familiar with Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) to ensure patient health information is handled and accessed appropriately.
*Knowledge of Epic it is necessary to analyze physician and regulated healthcare worker documentation, lab values, patient vitals, and any other required data point elements.
*Advanced skills in MS office (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Word, Visio), spreadsheets, graphs, and database with report-writing skills
* Demonstrated experience in data quality and process improvement.
* Knowledge of financial/statistical information, health information systems and use of statistical software is an asset and proven ability to analyze, research and interpret data and strong attention to detail is required.
* Proven written/oral communication, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills.
* Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize workload, multi-task and function in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and field.
* Demonstrated experience coordinating among diverse stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to achieve common goals and objectives required.
* Demonstrated ability to work well independently with minimal supervision and in a team.
* Ability to guide and lead change and have experience being a change agent.
* Must be able to provide own transportation to travel to other locations.
* Must have a satisfactory performance record;
