UNIT COORDINATOR
MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTIONS PROGRAM
ADULT INPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH UNITS (C4, RASSU, PICU)
TEMPORARY FULL TIME - 18 months
8 HOUR DAY SHIFTS (Subject to Change)

Salary: $37.79 - $53.39 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Unit Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of patient care, coordination of nursing staff and resources on all shifts, facilitating patient flow, supporting education and change initiatives, maintaining data accountability and acting as a steward for developing and facilitating a client centred approach, within the Mental Health units.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
* Current B.C.L.S.;
* Recent & related Charge Nurse Experience required (must be within the last 2-3 years);
* Proven experience with staff scheduling (ONA and CUPE), patient flow and patient assignments;
* Minimum of 3 years in an acute Mental Health setting, required;
* Canadian Mental Health Nursing Psychiatric Nursing Certificate, preferred;
* Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
* Proven ability to positively influence and facilitate change initiatives
* Proven ability to recognize and diffuse escalating or violent patients;
* Proven ability to conduct Mental Health Assessment with excellent interviewing and communication skills;
* Demonstrated knowledge of community mental health and addiction treatment resources;
* Demonstrated leadership, teaching and mentorship skills;
* Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act
* Effective organizational; planning; prioritization and time management skills;
* Demonstrated ability to deal with multiple competing demands with ability to maintain composure in stressful situations;
* Demonstrated problem solving; critical thinking and decision making skills;
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills that enables you to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community;
* Proven ability to work well independently;
* Ability to advocate for quality based patient outcomes within an interdisciplinary team environment;
* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
* Demonstrated commitment to customer service when working with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public;
* Demonstrated understanding of and, commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education sessions;
* B.Sc.N, required
* Must have proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard.
