CHILD AND YOUTH WORKER (CYW)
MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTIONS PROGRAM
CHILD/ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH
TEMPORARY PART TIME - 12 months
SCHEDULE: Days/Evenings/Nights/Weekends; 4,8 & 12 hour shifts(subject to change)

SALARY: $31.56 - $36.56 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working as part of the Child, Youth and Family Program, the successful candidate's primary duties will be to support the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Program (CAIP). The CYW will work as a part of the interdisciplinary team and contribute to the provision of care to adolescents with acute mental health issues. In this role the CYW will work collaboratively with the team to develop individualized care plans; plan and implement milieu intervention and programming through individual, group and/or family interventions; implement and role model effective behaviour management strategies; organize and lead therapeutic and psycho-education groups; and initiate and/or participate in discharge planning activities, including community agencies/other hospital programs as appropriate, involving community visits as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* College diploma/university degree in child and youth work is required
* Minimum of 1 year experience working in a hospital setting with adolescents experiencing mental health crisis is required.
* Proven experience working within a brief acute care model preferably within a hospital setting;
* Demonstrated knowledge of health care facilities, community support systems and social service agencies;
* Demonstrated effective organizational, prioritization and problem-solving abilities;
* Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships in a family centered environment;
* Working knowledge of French or other languages is an asset;
* Must provide a recent Criminal Investigation Reference (for persons involved with the vulnerable sector) in good standing;
* Must have satisfactory performance record;

* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and;
* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
