CUPECUPELAKERIDGE HEALTHMAINTENANCE ENGINEERENGINEERING & INFRASTRUCTUREFULL TIMEDAYS/WEEKENDS/ON-CALL SCHEDULE; 8 HOUR SHIFTS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)LAKERIDGE HEALTH AJAX-PICKERINGSALARY - $30.50 - $31.47 per hourCUPE-2300000383POSITION SUMMARY:Accountable to the Director/Manager, the Maintenance Engineer is responsible for preventative maintenance, inspection and repair of equipment and systems; specialized projects; renovations and construction trade work.The Maintenance Engineer will be making and acting on decisions within limits defined by technical standards, job description or job practices with exceptions being referred to the immediate manager. You will perform urgent and routine maintenance such as: servicing plumbing, HVAC and refrigerant equipment, lubricating, adjusting equipment, rebuilding pumps, motors, maintaining equipment logs and trouble shooting. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for Building systems such as: inspecting/servicing various pieces of mechanical equipment, patching/painting and/or modifying architectural finishes and building envelope, fabricating, piping systems, electro mechanical equipment, patient beds, lifts, and wheelchairs; electrical/electronic equipment (e.g. nurse call systems, motors and building control systems) as well as procuring supplies as directed. Other duties as assigned.The Maintenance Engineer will operate, diagnose and repair the pressure boilers; perform boiler water testing and monitor or adjust same; initiate generator testing, HVAC system service, as well as operate and maintain the medical gas system.QUALIFICATIONS:* 4th Class Stationary Engineer preferred, certificate of Qualification in a recognized trade will be considered dependant upon relevant demonstrated experience. Operational knowledge to include but not limited to: Boilers, Ancillary Equipment and Water Treatment Processes;* A certificate of qualification in other recognized trades would be an asset and/or previous healthcare experience in a maintenance field;* Proven mechanical aptitude which demonstrates experience with troubleshooting and diagnostic capability; a competent working knowledge of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems;* Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally to ensure solid client service working relationships;* Proven ability to work independently within a customer focused team environment;* Physically capable of bending, stooping, crawling, walking, climbing stairs, pushing and lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds;* Knowledge of computer programs, fire alarm safety and Emergency Measure systems;* Must have a satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service in this area; and* Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard;STANDBY & CALL-BACKS:Applicants will be expected to be available to the hospital on a 24 hour a day rotating basis as determined by the site Manager. While you are on call you must be able to respond to the designated hospital within 30 minutes to respond to such issues as fire alarms, power failures, boilers and other building system troubles.
