OPSEUREGISTERED MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGISTCORE LABORATORYChemistry/Hematology/Blood TransfusionREGULAR PART TIMEDAY/EVENING/NIGHT/WEEKEND SCHEDULE; 8 hour shifts (Subject to change)LAKERIDGE HEALTH PORT PERRY SALARY: $35.77 - $48.78 per hourOPSEU- 2200004522DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performing routine and specialized test procedures in Chemistry, Hematology and Blood Bank; organizing workflow to maintain performance standards of quantity and quality; observing, troubleshooting and reporting problems with methods, equipment etc. to his/her supervisor; ensuring cleanliness of equipment and immediate work area; following established safety and infection control procedures; participating in student/staff training programs, as required; and performing other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:* Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Sciences (CSMLS);* Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO);* Current theoretical and technical knowledge in Hematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry;* Must have in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments and their interrelationships;* Must have working and technical knowledge of the electronic and/or mechanical equipment necessary to perform routine and specialized testing;* Proven problem solving skills, with the ability to recognize problems, identify the cause, create alternatives and determine solutions;* Effective communication and interpersonal skills;* Able to exercise independent judgement, deductive reasoning with attention to detail;* Able to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations;* Proven organizational skills with the ability to assess requests and prioritize them to ensure good and prompt patient care;* Physically capable of performing bending, lifting, turning frequently throughout the shift to accomplish tasks;* Recent experience in a Core Laboratory, preferred; * Must have a satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service in this area; and* Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard;CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
