PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKERS TEMPORARY FULL TIMERESOURCE FLOAT POOL CURRENT SCHEDULE IS DDNN; 12 HOUR SHIFTS (Subject to change)LAKERIDGE HEALTH OSHAWA/BOWMANVILLE/WHITBY/PORT PERRY/AJAX-PICKERING *Cross site responsibilities*SALARY: $24.08-$25.24 per hour($2 per hour wage enhancement anticipated to end March 2023) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is an integral member of the healthcare team. Working under the supervision of the Nurse, Unit Coordinator and Manager with responsibilities that focus on the provision of direct and indirect personal care involving a variety of activities of daily living while supporting the functions of all team members, offer diversion, de-escalation and support of the medically stable patient. The PSW will also collaborate with other health disciplines.QUALIFICATIONS:* Successful completion of a 1 year Personal Support Worker program from an accredited Community College or educational institution accredited with the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC);* Successful completion of a U-First/PIECES Certificate Program, an asset;* Successful completion of Gentle Persuasion Program, an asset;* Current Basic Life Support required;* Proven critical thinking, observation and problem solving skills;* Demonstrated related healthcare and inventory experience;* Basic knowledge of Microsoft computer programs, preferably Meditech;* Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position;* Ability to work with supervision by a regulated health care provider;* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships in a Patient and family centred environment;* Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past 12 months;* Must have a satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
