CUPELAKERIDGE HEALTHREGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE X2INPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH (3 West)REGULAR PART TIMEDays, Evenings, Nights, Weekends; 8 & 12 hours shifts; (subject to change)LAKERIDGE HEALTH Ajax/ Pickering SALARY: $29.76 - $31.42 per hourCUPE-2200003743DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As a member of an interprofessional team, you will provide client-centred psychiatric and general nursing care and ensure the security and safety of the patients and maintain the CNO standards of nursing practice. You will be responsible for providing clinical care to patients on the inpatient mental health unit. Working within a primary nursing model, you will actively contribute to the treatment approach for the unit, perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate the interprofessional plan of client care.QUALIFICATIONS:* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);* Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college* A current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate is required* Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO; * CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing is considered an asset Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.* Current Medication Administration Certificate and completed the Crisis Response and Introduction to Mental Health Nursing that is offered through a Community College;* Mental Health/psychiatric nursing experience with individuals with mental illness and/or addictions is an asset* Must complete remaining Mental Health Nursing Certificate courses within two years of hire;* Proven knowledge of Psychotropic medications is required;* Complete a Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviour Program;* Current Medication Administration Certificate (plus medication administration experience with the last year);* Demonstrated effective group counselling skills or willingness to develop these skills with supervision;* Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete assignments; * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling you to develop a therapeutic Nurse- Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse interprofessional team* Effective leadership, decision-making, organizational and problem solving skills are required.* Demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behaviour* The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary* Ability to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids;* Evidence of continuing education related to the requirements of the position;* Must have satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and;* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
