CUPELAKERIDGE HEALTHREGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSEDURHAM REGIONAL CANCER CENTREAMBULATORY CLINICSTEMPORARY PART TIME8 hour shifts - Days schedule (subject to change)Lakeridge Health OshawaSALARY: $29.76 - $31.42 per hourCUPE-2100003812DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As a member of the multidisciplinary intraprofessional team, the RPN will: support and assist with the plan of care for oncology patients in the ambulatory setting; provide care to address the physical, psychological, social, spiritual and educational needs of patients and their families. QUALIFICATIONS:* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);* Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college;* Current B.C.L.S.;* Completion of de Souza Institute Foundations in Oncology Nursing Practice course or equivalent required;* Proven ability to work at full scope of practice according to the College of Nurses of Ontario guidelines;* Certificate in Oncology nursing preferred; or proof of enrolment;* Membership in RPNAO is an asset;* Significant related experience within last five (5) years caring for patients and families experiencing cancer required;* Experience and competency with CVAD (PICC/PORT) care, including accessing, deaccessing, flushing, blood draws and dressing changes required;* Experience in IV initiation an asset;* Experience and competency with assisting procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures required;* Competency in administering sub-cutaneous and intramuscular injections required;* Knowledge and experience in wound care an asset;* Experience in providing patients and families with health teaching;* Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills; * Ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations;* Ability to lift, turn, and transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids;* Effective oral and written communications skills;* Able to clearly articulate and document nursing assessments and patients' goals of care;* Familiar and comfortable with electronic documentation;* Demonstrated strong organizational, prioritization and problem-solving skills;* Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Must have a satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education sessions; and* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
