OPSEULAKERIDGE HEALTHREGISTERED DIETITIAN DURHAM REGIONAL CANCER CENTRETEMPORARY PART TIME8 Hour Day Shifts (subject to change)Lakeridge Health OshawaSALARY: $35.07 - $44.68 per hourOPSEU-2100002703DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As a valued member of the health care team, the Registered Dietitian is responsible for nutritional assessment of patients living with cancer. In collaboration with the client and the healthcare team within the oncology program, the dietitian will develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of realistic nutritional goals that utilize the principals of self-management and chronic disease prevention and management. The Registered dietitian will work with other members of the health care team within Lakeridge Health and in the community to support the development and implementation of an individualized plan of care for our patients.As an integral member of the Durham Regional Cancer Centre, the Dietitian will participate in inter/intra-department committees and will demonstrate their commitment to best practice and patient focused-care by; maintaining departmental/hospital quality assurance and continuous quality improvement initiatives; acting as a nutrition resource person and providing in-service education to members of the oncology team, community partners and clients; participate in continuing education and professional development in accordance with the College of Dietitians of Ontario and Corporate Professional Practice; supervising dietetic interns as required and performing other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition, with major credits in Foods and Nutrition from a Dietitians of Canada accredited university program;* Must be registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario;* Proven knowledge and experience of cancer patients and related complications including symptom management ;* Knowledge of adult learning principles, and proven teaching skills;* Proven ongoing professional development * Effective interpersonal communication and counselling skills;* Ability to plan programs and develop educational materials/packages to support oncology education for individuals, client groups and clinicians* Demonstrated time management skills;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education sessions;* Significant oncology experience as a Clinical Dietitian within the last 5 years, preferred;* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Meditech preferred; and* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Courage and Trust;* Proven knowledge of disease entities, physiology, medication and laboratory data for specific client nutritional care;* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining the same standard.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) .
