OPSEULAKERIDGE HEALTHOCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTMENTAL HEALTH DAY TREATMENTMENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTIONSTEMPORARY FULL TIME8 HOUR DAYS, EVENINGS SHIFTS; (Subject to Change) LAKERIDGE HEALTH (OSHAWASALARY- $34.77 - $48.20 per hourOPSEU- 2100002549DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist provides intake and triage functions, comprehensive psychosocial group assessments and group therapy to adults with serious mental illness following an inpatient admission or a visit to the Crisis Intervention Team. The focus of the Mental Health Day Treatment (MHDT) program is primarily to assist the client in developing or enhancing coping skills related to the social, emotional, and psychological difficulties he/she presents with and to link the patient to appropriate community services upon discharge for continuity of care. The Occupational Therapist may provide evening psycho-education groups to family members of clients who are in the program. Other related duties as assigned. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for maintaining all relevant statistics.QUALIFICATIONS:*M. Sc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent;*Registration (in good standing) with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario;*Certified/licenced to practice in Ontario;*Membership in CAOT, OSOT preferred;*Previous experience working with children and adolescents who have serious and persistent mental illnesses on an individual basis as well as in group settings;*Effective verbal and written communication skills;*Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and problem solving skills;*Ability to work well in an multi-disciplinary team;*Ability to exercise initiative and observe strict confidentiality;*Must have satisfactory performance record;*Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;*Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and;*Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) .
