CUPE SERVICELAKERIDGE HEALTH RESEARCH NURSE (RPN)DURHAM REGIONAL CANCER CENTRECLINICAL TRIALS FULL-TIME8 hour Day shifts (Subject to change)Lakeridge Health OshawaCUPE SRV-1700000604 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Clinical Research Nurse collaborates with Investigators and the health care team to assume responsibility for the overall patient management and coordination of several clinical trials and research studies.Key responsibilities include recruitment of study participants (e.g. identify and screen potential subjects, obtain informed consent); coordination of patient visits schedules as per study protocol; execution of all aspects of study visit (e.g. assessment of adverse events, monitoring safety, medication, questionnaires, sample collection), provision of clinical care for patients participating in clinical trials and the implementation and coordination of all aspects of study conduct, data collection and source documentation within required timeframes, as per study protocol, Lakeridge Health policy, regulatory requirements and ICH/GCP guidelines.* Sound conduct of the clinical trial, including but not limited to recruitment, screening, enrollment, and follow-up of eligible subjects according to protocol requirements.* Maintenance of accurate and complete documentation, including not but limited to regulatory documents, signed informed consent forms, relevant REB approvals, source documentation, drug dispensing logs, subject logs, and study-related communications.* Organizational management of all aspects of the trial, including but not limited to timeliness in completing case report forms (CRFs), data entry, reporting adverse drug experiences (AEs), managing caseload and managing study files.* Communication of all protocol-related issues/problems to the appropriate management staff, including but not limited to questions regarding the conduct of the clinical trial, concerns regarding possible AEs or subject compliance.* Professional conduct in the presence of subjects, research staff, sponsors, monitors, etc.QUALIFICATIONS:* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing) required;* Minimum of 2 (two) years of nursing experience;* Minimum of 1 (one) year of clinical trials research experience; other research experience may be considered;*Demonstrated knowledge and ability to utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care;*Certificate of Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) required, or to be completed within one month of hire;* Demonstrated experience working with Research & Clinical Trials;* Recent experience in Oncology Nursing is preferred;* Demonstrated familiarity with Research Ethics Board requirements for research as well as regulations concerning the protection of Human subjects in research;* Proven attention to detail and meticulous documentation practice;* Experience working with diverse research partners/organizations, preferred;* Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Courage and Trust;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education sessions; and*Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.
