Wage Schedule: $44.670 - $57.900 per hour

This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 13 November 2025 and closing at 11:59 pm on 20 November 2025.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working in a multidisciplinary team the Social Worker/Mental Health Clinician acts as a liaison between the team and families and provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment, group psychotherapy, brief individual and family therapy and discharge planning for children and youth with psychiatric illnesses/concerns admitted to the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Program (CAIP).

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, compassion and the ability to work with families in crisis to provide health teaching and support with a trauma-informed approach. Collaboration and establishing positive relationships with essential community organizations including but not limited to; mental health; education; housing; child protection and other like supports, is key to success in this position.

At times this role may require short term follow-up and/or meetings in the outpatient setting for patients/families recently discharged from CAIP to support transitions from hospital.

The SW/Mental Health Clinician will participate in unit programming, team huddles and meetings as well as other committees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* A Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Psychotherapy or equivalent with current membership in a registered professional association for practitioners in clinical therapy, in good standing is required.
*Minimum of 1 year of previous clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders within a hospital based service setting is required;
*Demonstrated experience in providing individual, group and family therapy to children and youth with psychiatric illnesses;
*Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in best practice guidelines pertaining to the treatment of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders;
*Experience providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and assessing treating complex trauma is a requirement of this position;
*Demonstrated skill in mental health assessment and crisis management;
*Proven ability to work effectively with other health care providers and community service and school board providers;
*Proven organizational, prioritization and problem-solving abilities;
*Proven to have strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills;
*Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area;
*Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;
*Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
*Must be willing to travel from site to site.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
