To participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team. As an individual practitioner, to maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. To maintain nursing records. Function as a member of a Multidisciplinary team. To perform other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:* Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);* Current B.C.L.S.* Interest in the practice of Gerontology nursing, knowledge of Discharge Planning and ability to function independently in a total patient care environment;* B.Sc.N. and/or Gerontology Certificate is preferred;* Demonstrated knowledge and application of nursing skills as listed in the CNO "Standards on Nursing Practice";* Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and teaching skills;* Demonstrated judgement, good observation and patient assessment skills, tact and empathy;* Able to perform appropriately in emergency situations;* Able to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids;* Able to assume a leadership/supervisory role;* Able to foster good public relations and effective working relationships in a family centered care environment;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; * Must have a satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and*Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard.
