To participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team. As an individual practitioner, to maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. To maintain nursing records. To function as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Assessments, screening and scheduling of patients, monitoring patients' medical status as it impacts on participation in programming, assists in prioritizing waiting lists, statistical recording, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.QUALIFICATIONS:*Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);*Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO;*Current B.C.L.S.;*Significant current experience and evidence of recent related continuing education;*Demonstrated self-motivation regarding continuing education in areas of patient assessment, patient education, leadership and related Clinical Specialties;*Working towards certification as a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse is preferred;*Excellent assessment skills with clinical knowledge of complex stroke pathophysiology as well as general neurological conditions;*Proven good organizational, prioritization, time-management, problem-solving and teaching skills;*Demonstrated excellent communication skills both written and verbal;*Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships in a family centred environment;*Demonstrated experience with intake coordination and philosophy of adult rehabilitation;*Demonstrated ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations;*Ability to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids;*Proven ability to assume a leadership/preceptors role;*Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;*Must have a satisfactory performance record;*Eemonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and*Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
