Non-UnionLAKERIDGE HEALTHPRIVACY SPECIALISTREGULAR FULL TIMEHEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENTLAKERIDGE HEALTH OSHAWACross site responsibilities at Corporate, Whitby, Ajax/Pickering, Port Perry and BowmanvilleSALARY: 38.248-42.748UN.EX 2000000246NON-UNIONDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Under the direction of the Manager, Privacy & Release of Information, the Privacy Specialist will work closely with Release of Information staff, as well as all Clinical Programs, to coordinate the implementation, education, maintenance, and adherence to, the organization's policies and procedures.* Responsible for privacy training, access audits, and promoting privacy awareness across the organization;* Providing expertise, assistance and leadership to ROI Specialists, physicians, staff, volunteers, and students, at all sites, as appropriate, on privacy and Release of Information issues, including ensuring the compliance with provincial privacy legislation;* Managing consent directives and consent over-ride investigations;* Investigating both internal and external incidents, complaints, and privacy related inquires;* Working cooperatively with the Health Information Management team and other departments in overseeing the patient's right of access to, and disclosure of, personal health information in compliance with PHIPA;* Liaison with external bodies including the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario;* Reviewing new applications and business processes that require access to personal health information, ensuring compliance with privacy standards, legislation, and industry best practices;* Reviewing data sharing agreements in collaboration with Legal and Information Security/Technologies;* When appropriate, support the Manager, Privacy & Release of Information in ensuring LH's compliance with all matters related to Freedom of Information and LH's responsibilities under applicable legislation.QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor degree in Health Information Management or equivalent;* Certified Information Privacy Professional of Canada required;* Certified with the Canadian College of Health Information Management required, with strong knowledge of electronic records management, understanding of physical records management, and an understanding of the lifecycle of data management;* Minimum 3 years experience in Privacy within a health care environment, with experience and expert knowledge of, and experience interpreting and applying privacy legislation, policies, and procedures related to access to, and the collection, use, disclosure, storage and destruction of personal health information governed by PHIPA;* Thorough knowledge of privacy legislation in Ontario, and a demonstrated ability to interpret PHIPA and maintain knowledge;* Outstanding presentation skills with knowledge of adult learning principles and a demonstrated ability to develop and conduct orientation, training, and presentations in the area of privacy to staff at all levels;* Demonstrated good public relations skills with internal and external customers;* A strong team player with the ability to work independently and provide leadership and support to the release of information staff, with the ability to mentor and coach team members;* Demonstrated excellent communication (written, verbal, and non-verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across the organization;* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills;* Proven ability to be detail-oriented with excellent attention to detail, and to pay close attention to accuracy with ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and demands. * Superior organization and planning skills to meet workload demands in a timely fashion with frequent interruptions;* Advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), and experience in a variety of hospital information systems;* A commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy - supporting the patient and family centered care philosophy, while striving to provide an exceptional patient experience;* Must maintain strict adherence to confidentiality rules;* Must be reliable and dependable with an excellent attendance record and the capability of maintaining this same standard;* Ability to travel between sites;CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Health's policies and procedures.Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
