Lakeridge Health's dedicated team of more than 5,400 employees, 760 physicians and 1,500 volunteers provide care to the more than 650,000 people living and working in Durham Region.Position Description:Reporting to the Manager, Public Relations and Digital Communications, the Digital Communications Strategist is responsible for development, execution and measurement of effective digital media strategies in support of Lakeridge Health's corporate objectives and annual business priorities. The successful candidate is the go-to expert in the area of digital and social media platforms and technologies and is highly skilled at developing strategic solutions to advance the organization's corporate priorities and at leading project execution. The successful candidate has a thirst for new and emerging web and digital trends and a track record of leading digital strategies from concept to execution in support of public sector organizations. An excellent writer and multimedia communications expert, the candidate is highly effective at applying text, graphics, video and other media to deliver clear and strategic messages. The ideal individual is adept at working with other members of the Communications team and a range of internal and external stakeholders to create digital social media solutions and tactics and to develop and tell compelling and high-impact stories through digital and social platforms. The successful candidate will also lead and support skills development and training for team members regarding digital and social media communications.The candidate thrives in complex, fast-paced organizations involved in transformational work, and is familiar working in decentralized environments with multiple stakeholders and initiatives. Key Responsibilities:" Working closely with the Manager, PR and Digital Communications, develop, implement and execute Lakeridge Health's Digital and Social Media and website plan and work with colleagues on the Strategic Communications team to incorporate and leverage digital and social media tactics as part of Lakeridge Health's Integrated Corporate Communications Strategy." Advise and provide leadership regarding employing digital media to mitigate and manage issues." Use digital tools to advance and strengthen the organization's internal team and community engagement initiatives." Provide leadership and oversight of digital media streams to achieve Lakeridge Health's strategic objectives and Annual Business Plan priorities including the development and maintenance of social media and website governance, operational policies and guidelines. " Proactively promote best practices and lead strategies to improve Lakeridge Health's digital communications and social media results." Contribute to content development and improvements to the intranet site, in collaboration with the Manager of Corporate and Internal Communications and colleagues across the organization." Provide guidance/support to Strategic Communications team members, hospital leadership and Foundations as needed in the effective use of social media and digital communications within a multi-site hospital and health system environment." Manage and monitor Lakeridge Health's website, blogs, email marketing, mobile apps, social media channels and lead ongoing evaluation and analysis of performance-related data for Lakeridge Health's digital and social media communications." Conceptualize, create, edit, produce and update content (including print, graphic design, photos, and videos) for social media platforms, website, intranet site, specialized apps for internal and external communications and digital forums and event platforms." Monitor, review, and respond to community questions and concerns via social and websites in a timely manner to promote positive relationships with patients and the community." Work with colleagues to raise awareness of Lakeridge Health's brand, programs and people." Manage and collaborate with vendor partners as required." Evaluate emerging technologies and provide evidence-informed advice about adoption and optimization as appropriate. Qualifications:" Undergraduate degree and/or post-graduate training in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field." Minimum of three years specialized experience in digital and social media communications." Proven experience leading and managing search engine optimization/search engine marketing, marketing database, email, social media and/or display advertising campaigns." Highly developed writing skills, with a specialization in web and digital media writing. " Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences, understanding stakeholders and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform, motivate, support behavior change and drive results related to an organization's strategic priorities." Skilled at identifying and telling compelling and strategically relevant stories using different media to targeted audiences/stakeholders." Experience developing, renewing and launching new corporate social media and digital platforms." Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript." Expertise in using various content management systems and website platforms." Strong understanding of social channels, and ability to adapt and apply different tools and channels for different purposes." Strong ability to anticipate and plan a response for issues that arise or unfold on social media. " Highly developed ability to contribute to social media crisis management, including judgement and skills regarding mitigation and escalation." Understanding of the relevant legislation related to social media and digital communications within the health care sector including Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and Access for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)." Advanced knowledge of digital analytics tools." Up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in digital and social media communications, marketing and measurement." Able to motivate, provide expert advice and teach staff at all levels of the organization." Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite and InDesign is an asset." Knowledge of the health care system required." Experience working in health care is an asset " Website development experience an asset." Ability to travel between sites as required."
