This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing:July 10, 2019 and closing by 11:59 pm on July 17,2019.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Nuclear Medicine Manager and Charge Technologist, the Registered Technologist performs general Nuclear Medicine procedures and assists the Nuclear Medicine physician with specialized procedures according to the standards of practice. The Technologist is also responsible for maintaining patient safety and comfort; assisting in the clerical function of the department; participating in student training; and maintaining competence as required by the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario. Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario in good standing;
* Baccalaureate in Nuclear Medicine;
* In addition to the Nuclear Medicine skill taught in recognized/approved training programs, the job requires the use of the office equipment, computers, nurse call system, electronic image management system, ceiling lifts, scanners and fax machines;
* Must be able to perform all required imaging procedures and therapy procedures;
* Proven good organizational, prioritization and time-management skills;
* Proven excellent communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills;
* Physically capable of performing all aspects of the technologist's duties including 12 Lead ECG, peripheral IV, sentinel lymph node and PICC line injections;
* Must be able to use all types of imaging equipment and ancillary equipment to include GE and Phillips imaging systems, preferred;
* Must be able to assess requests for imaging procedures and prioritize them to ensure prompt patient care while being able to work productively with many interruptions,
* Able to adapt to standard work procedures to emergency situations;
* Proficient with computer system for input and retrieval of information;
* Able to milk radioactive generators, prepare radiopharmaceuticals from commercial kits, perform quality control and to inject same intravenously.
* Must be able to perform quality control on all equipment;
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, radiation safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area;
* Five years' experience in a community hospital setting, preferred;
* SPECT/CT Imaging, Positron Emission Imaging and MCD imaging experience, preferred;
* Current BLS training;

* Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard.

SALARY: $31.32 - $41.98 per hour
