Decontaminate, inspect process, sterilize, store and distribute medical/surgical equipment to Nursing Units; identify and process operating room instruments; check and replenish medical/surgical equipment and supplies using a barcoding and inventory system; prepare case carts for surgical procedures including "stats", and operate steam sterilizers. Process, package and sterilize equipment using hydrogen peroxide; monitor and record information regarding equipment; decontaminate respiratory equipment; and, other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:* Completion of a recognized community college program for sterile processing, or the CSAO course and at least two years' experience in CS/SPD (recent experience within the past 12 months is required);* Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of cleaning, inspecting, testing and packaging of OR, OPD, EOR, Birthing Suite, and Renal instrumentation;* Current knowledge of anaesthetic and respiratory equipment:* Current knowledge of E-Req System;* Working knowledge of infection control;* Ability to learn quickly, be precise and proficient, retain what has been taught, be decisive;* Requires good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills;* Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision;* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;* Physical ability to perform constant lifting (trays and other supplies and equipment), continuous pushing, unremitting pulling and steering of carts, climbing of ladders, stooping, bending and standing (including walking/standing approximately 90% of the shift);* Must have a satisfactory performance record;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area;* Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard;* Knowledge of medical terminology, an asset; and* Previous experience in a Health Care setting, preferred.SALARY: $27.00 - 27.67 per hourCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364 (Clerical Bargaining Unit).Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
