CUPELAKERIDGE HEALTHCHILD AND YOUTH WORKER CHILD/ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTHMENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTIONS PROGRAMTTEMPORARY REGULAR PART TIME X2The current schedule is Days/Evenings/Nights/Weekends;4, 8 & 12 hour shifts (subject to change)Lakeridge Health OshawaCUPE-1900001300/1301 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Working as part of the expanding Child, Youth and Family Program, the successful candidate's primary duties will be to support the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Program (CAIP) and Youth Crisis Team: complete face to face psychosocial assessments of referred children, adolescents and their families; participate collaboratively in a multidisciplinary triage process to determine appropriate disposition of referred children and adolescents; communicate with patients, families and referral sources; develop individualized care plans; plan and implement milieu intervention and programming through individual, group and/or family interventions; implement and role model effective behaviour management strategies; organize and lead therapeutic and psycho-education groups; and initiate and/or participate in discharge planning activities, including community agencies/other hospital programs as appropriate, involving community visits as necessary.QUALIFICATIONS:*College diploma/university degree in child and youth work or equivalent combination of education and experience;*Extensive experience in crisis assessment and short-term treatment of children and adolescents experiencing severe mental health disorders;*Demonstrated to have a particular interest in intake and assessment work;*Proven experience working within a brief acute care model preferably within a hospital setting;*Demonstrated knowledge of health care facilities, community support systems and social service agencies;*Demonstrated effective organizational, prioritization and problem-solving abilities;*Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships in a family centered environment;*Working knowledge of French or other languages is an asset;*Must provide a recent Criminal Investigation Reference (for persons involved with the vulnerable sector) in good standing;*Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;*Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and*Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.SALARY: $29.96 - $34.70 per hourCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364 (Clerical Bargaining Unit).Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
