CUPELAKERIDGE HEALTHCHART MANAGEMENT SPECIALISTHEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENTREGULAR PART TIME8 Hour Days, Evening shifts (subject to change)Lakeridge Health Ajax/PickeringCUPE-1900000061POSITION DESCRIPTION:Reporting to the Manager, Health Information Management, the Chart Management Specialist will participate in the re-design of the health information management function at Lakeridge Health, in order to meet the evolving needs of our patients and clinicians as our organization migrates to full electronic health records. All functions related to the management of patient charts, either in paper or electronic form, are the responsibility of the Chart Management Specialist. This position is created to maximize efficient, promote accountability and ensure that the highest quality health records are available to the patient, clinicians and administrators.QUALIFICATIONS: * Successful completion of a CHIMA-recognized Health Information Management program;* Certification as Health Information Management Professional;* Member in good standing with CHIMA or OHIMA;* Computer literacy - proficient in the use of computer technology - MS office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Meditech - MRI , PCI, ADM, MIS modules and other hospital EHR or electronic medical records systems, and scanning software;* Ability to learn new skills and software applications as required;* Proven ability to be detailed oriented with close attention paid to accuracy;* Experience in terminal digit filing;* Physical capable of performing the work including reaching, bending, lifting, pulling, and moving large number of charts;* Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and meet productivity standards with frequent interruptions in a busy/stressful environment;* Proven knowledge of retention and destruction legislation;* Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to be proactive in developing systems to facilitate improved record processing and safeguarding of the health information;* Exposure to lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to use Of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients;* Recent experience ina Health Information Management Department preferred;* Experience in Health Records processes (including chart completion/chart deficiency analysis, monitoring and reporting, document scanning, release of information);* Excellent written and oral communication skills;* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Compassion, Innovation, Courage and Trust;* Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public;* Demonstrated understanding of and, commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and,* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.SALARY: $28.82 - $30.42 PER HOURCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health.The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364 (Clerical Bargaining Unit).Accommodation will be provided in all parts of the recruitment and assessment process as required under Lakeridge Health's Employment Accommodation policy.
